Florida death certificate
A Florida death certificate used abroad has to be a certified copy with the official seal — not an informational copy and not a photocopy.
What this document is
Foreign banks, land registries, and courts ask for a Florida death certificate when someone dies in Florida and property, pensions, or family files sit in Mexico, Colombia, Spain, or elsewhere.
The Florida stamp authenticates the state officer on the certified copy. It does not settle the estate.
What you must send
A certified copy from Florida vital records. Informational copies without the full seal fail. Photocopies fail. Funeral-home keepsakes fail if they are not the certified state document.
Who usually needs this
Children and spouses registering a death in Mexico, Colombia, Spain, or the Dominican Republic. Banks that will not release an account without a stamped Florida death record. Land registries abroad that still list the deceased as owner.
How we file it
Upload a photo or scan on the order form. We check the seal. You ship the original. We file in Tallahassee and return it with tracking. Standard is $125 plus the Florida state fee ($10, or $20 if a county clerk certified the document). Rush is $199 plus state fees. Mailing it to the state yourself can take months, and a reject means you start over.
If you also need a court order or a power of attorney for the same estate, add them to the same order when you can.
Translate after the stamp
Get the Florida stamp on the certified copy first, then a translation the foreign office accepts. We do not translate.
