Clerk-certified copies in The Villages, Sumter County

If the document is a court paper, The Villages is not the office that certifies it. The Sumter County clerk certifies copies of judgments and orders entered in that county. Tallahassee then apostilles the clerk’s signature. Skipping the clerk is the most common way a divorce file dies.

A printout from a court website feels official because it shows the case number. It is not certified. The clerk’s stamp, signature, and date have to be on the paper. Some clerks mail that copy.
